One single still photo from the new Nightmare on Elm Street shows a new, but mysterious Freddy Krueger in his famous finger-knived glove.

The man that scared fans out of their sleep is back and ready to terrorize a new generation of Horror film enthusiasts April 2010. This time Jackie Earle Haley of Watchmen is prepped to take on the role that Robert Englund made famous. Originally created by Wes Craven, New Line's A Nightmare on Elm Street will be the ninth flick in the Freddy Krueger franchise, which spans 25 years.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Nancy Thompson, a teenager living on Elm Street, starts to have dreams of a badly burned man named Freddy Krueger wearing a single glove with knives for fingers. After she learns that her neighborhood friends are having the same reoccurring nightmares, but dying from them, Nancy takes it upon herself to beat Freddy at his own game. Johnny Depp makes his film debut.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985)

Jesse Walsh's family moves into the same Elm Street house Nancy Thompson lived. Jesse begins to have the same nightmares that terrorized the neighborhood a year before. While Jesse's girlfriend uncovers the story behind Freddy Krueger, Freddy attempts to posses Jesse to carry out his killing spree in reality.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)

Kristen Parker is placed in a psychiatric hospital after having violent nightmares. After other children become victims of the same nightmares, Nancy Thompson (now a Psychiatrist) realizes that Freddy is still on his mission to kill the children of Elm Street. Nancy must help Kristen master her power of drawing people into her dreams to defeat Freddy Krueger once and for all. Partricia Arquette stars.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)

Kristen Parker attempts a normal life and attends highschool where she makes friends with Alice. Kristen begins to have the same nightmares and draws her friend in as well, killing them. Freddy gains more power while Kristen attempts to pass on her abilites to her friend Alice.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989)

Alice manages to graduate from High School along with her boyfriend, Dan. Alice begins to have nightmares of Freddy Krueger and soon learns that she is pregnant. Alice must now find a way to protect her unborn child before Freddy uses him to his advantage.

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)

Freddy has been successful in killing all the children of Elm Street, except a "John Doe" who manages to escape. John is taken to a shelter and meets a Doctor who tries to cure his amnesia by taking him back to Elm Street, where they learn Freddy had once fathered a daughter. Freddy is determined to have his estranged child continue on in his killing spree. The film's climax was originally filmed in 3-D.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994)

Freddy invades the real world and starts to terrorize the actors responsible for the "remake" of Nightmare on Elm Street. It draws a fine line between what is real, and what's truley a nightmare.

Freddy vs. Jason (2003)

Freddy reaches the New Millenium in a battle between Evil and...Evil. Freddy is trapped in Hell and the only way to escape is if new teenagers develop a fear for him. Freddy decides to ressurect Jason to do his bidding on land. When Jason becomes unstoppable, Freddy must devise a plan to stop him as there can only be one villain.

Robert Englund has played Freddy in every movie; therefore Elm Street fans are exciting to see how a new actor will approach the famous knife wielding villain. If it's anything like the new photo just released by New Line, the upcoming film, produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes, is sure to be just as fascinating as the original.

I am really looking forward to this new Freddy movie because I have been a Freddy Krueger fan ever since I first saw the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. I did't even miss the Freddy vs. Jason when it came to theaters. But I hope that this new guy can good as good of a job as Robert Englund did. Keep up the good work guys.
